Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder (ADHD) is one of the most common neurodevelopmental disorders in Canada, affecting 4-6% of adults and 5-7% of children, or approximately 1.8 million Canadians. There are many symptoms that overlap with other mental health conditions, and it is important that patients can access accurate and up-to-date information and treatment!

Understanding the whole picture, including developmental context, onset and progression of symptoms, response to previous interventions, and degree of functional impairment is critical to helping individuals achieve their goals. Our goal is not to provide labels - but to offer interventions that result in functional improvement.

Prior to the appointment, we ask you complete a series of questionnaires. These assist us in understanding not only your symptoms, but also their context.

You will meet with our team for a comprehensive consultation.  We will prepare a report using information from the forms you completed, from your referral, and from the assessment with an outline of potential diagnoses, factors we think might be contributing, other investigations that might be useful to provide more information, and suggestions for treatment options.

You can decide to take our recommendations and work with your existing providers to implement, or follow up with our team (additional fees apply) as needed to achieve functional improvement.

When working with our team. we first want to get the basics in place.  We then work with you to narrow in on functional impairments and contributing factors, collaboratively determining clear metrics to assess the effects of treatment and achieve your goals.

Our providers and staff are dedicated to meeting the needs of the populations we serve!

With the increased demand for mental health services and questions about ADD/ADHD we provide a wholistic assessment, offering both pharmacologic and non-pharmacologic treatment options.

Initial consultations are OHIP-covered.  Patients and referring providers will receive an assessment report and suggested treatment plan.  Patients can follow up with their providers or continue to work with our multidisciplinary team (additional fees apply) to implement that plan.

Choose "Prisma Health Care Collaborative - Primary Care Specialty Clinics", then select "Neurodiversity / Mental Health"

Referrals are accepted from physicians and nurse practitioners via OCEAN e-referral.

Patients will be contacted at the e-mail address provided on the referral form.

Consultation notes will be sent back to the referring provider as per guidelines.

Referral for general primary care will not be accepted.

Patients will be discharged back to the referral source once the assessment is complete, treatment has been initiated, and functional improvement is noted.

For Referring Providers Working in Patient Enrollment Models (FHO/FNH)

Providers working in FHO/FHN models may want to consider de-rostering patients during the course of treatment to avoid negation if follow up after the initial consultation is required.

Patients requesting a consultation - please notify your provider that our team does not currently hold a focused practice designation, and appointments other than the initial consultation may result in negation.
